Job summary

Summa Health is seeking an RN for the Weekend Nights 7p-7a in the Epilepsy Monitoring/Blended Acuity Unit (3N EMU). The 17-bed unit offers a collaborative team environment, with a $5/hr night shift differential and $1/hr weekend differential.

Applicants must have ADN (BSN preferred), Ohio RN license, and ACLS/BLS. New grads may enter a 12-month nurse residency program. Per diems with relevant experience are considered for float roles.

Qualifications

  • ADN required; BSN preferred.
  • Current Ohio RN license to practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide, coordinate and/or delegate nursing care while managing resources to deliver care.
  • Utilize evidence-based nursing theory and knowledge to support patient and family health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure quality and safety in patient care.

Summary: Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.

Formal Education Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred
  • Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by CCNE or ACEN
  • Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio

Experience and Training Required:

  • Per diem RN’s must have at least one year recent experience in the area of practice
  • Two years of related RN experience required for all float positions; for critical care, experience must include intensive and/or coronary care; for telemetry, experience must include telemetry
  • Additional related previous experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
  • Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support certification; ACLS certification within six months of hire

  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse patient populations

Level of Physical Demands:

  • Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects

Experienced critical care RNs and RNs hired as per diems in critical care, telemetry, PACU, and ED are expected to have ACLS certification upon hire. If not credentialed, they must obtain ACLS/NIH certification within six weeks of hire.
