Job Duties

The purpose of this position is responsible for providing supervision to staff and for coordinating the organized nursing services and the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced for assigned units. This supervisory position is also responsible for the management of staff. Maintaining sound organizational relationship with staff, resident and families while ensuring that continuous quality care is provided. Ensure the implementation, maintenance and evaluation of policies, programs and services consistent with regulatory standards, the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the organization’s mission, goals and objectives.

The brand new Jones & Cabacoy Veterans Care Center (JCVCC) is named after two Virginia heroes. Air Force Colonel William A. Jones III of Norfolk was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service in Vietnam. Army Staff Sergeant Christopher F. Cabacoy of Virginia Beach was killed in Afghanistan in 2010 when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. The Jones & Cabacoy VCC honors their service to the Nation and the Commonwealth. The Jones & Cabacoy VCC was built to serve our Veterans. They served us, now it is our duty to serve them. JCVCC is nestled in an ideal location in the Princess Anne section of Virginia Beach on a 25-acre site adjacent to Nimmo Parkway (extended), West Neck Rd, and N. Landing Rd. This pristine 128-bed facility is state of the art with immaculate outside landscaping and features all private rooms that will be organized into eight 16-bed households that surround a central community center and rehabilitation gym. Each 16-bed sub unit includes a dining room, kitchenette and dayroom adjoined access to a courtyard.

You will have the full support of the entire DVS team, including the Administrators of the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care in Richmond, and the brand-new Puller Veterans Care Center in Fauquier County (the “twin” of Jones & Cabacoy VCC). You will also have the full support of the Virginia Beach community. The opening of the Jones & Cabacoy VCC is eagerly anticipated and there will be no end of support for social and volunteer activities, both at the Jones & Cabacoy VCC and in the community.

Excellent clinical knowledge and skill to assess and develop patient care plans; demonstrated ability to coordinate, delegate, communicate and problem solve; ability to supervise and evaluate both patient care and staff performance; ability to instruct and train patients and staff. Possess basic knowledge of computer software and have the ability to use the computer
