A Brief Overview
Provides professional nursing care to patients within assigned unit/area utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Works flexible work schedules within the service line in accordance with Float Pool staffing guidelines.
What You Will Do
- Provide nursing care according to medical regimes and appropriate interventions for patients' conditions, following established standards, policies, and procedures, including care of medicine and surgery patients. Initiate assessments, collect key information, determine diagnoses and priorities, document findings, and demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-specific patient care.
- Perform clinical rounds, ongoing assessments, and re-prioritize care based on new information. Involve family and significant individuals in assessments.
- Assess, plan, and implement patient care, perform therapeutic interventions ordered by physicians, and maintain documentation. Prepare and maintain records, reports, and files for administrative and compliance purposes.
- Determine the impact of nursing interventions, document care, and prepare equipment or supplies. Respond to medical emergencies, including CPR/BLS/ACLS as required.
- Provide patient and family education, develop teaching outlines, and evaluate progress.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and patients regarding all aspects of patient needs, including discharge planning and referrals.
- Supervise and instruct LPNs and support personnel, assist in orientation and training of new staff and students.
- Transport patients, specimens, equipment, and supplies; collaborate with forensic and security teams for patients in custody.
- Complete ongoing training, maintain licensures/certifications, and work flexible schedules per staffing guidelines.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved nursing program.
- Qualified to work with diverse patient populations as dictated by specialty.
- RN license in TN or a compact state.
- CPR/BLS certification upon hire.
- Minimum 1 year recent RN experience.
