Job summary

Jobtailor in Little Rock, AR seeks a perioperative RN to provide direct patient care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. You will verify identity, procedure, consent, and surgical site, and develop individualized perioperative plans with the team.

This role requires 1 year RN experience, an active RN license, and BLS/EPIC familiarity. Orthopaedic OR experience is preferred; applicants undergo pre-employment screenings as required.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in nursing or Diploma RN.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited RN nursing program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nursing experience.
  • Current Registered Nurse license.
  • TB screening, criminal background check, sex offender registry, and substance abuse testing required.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions, read and write.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Orthopaedic OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative phases
  • Conduct preoperative assessments and verify patient identity, procedure, consent, and surgical site
  • Develop and implement individualized perioperative plans of care
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the perioperative team
  • Monitor patient status during surgery and respond to clinical changes
  • Prepare the operating room and maintain a safe, sterile surgical environment
  • Perform surgical counts, specimen handling, and proper patient positioning
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products according to established protocols
  • Serve as patient advocate and uphold patient safety standards
  • Educate patients and families about surgical care, recovery expectations, and postoperative instructions
  • Document intraoperative care and manage surgical instruments and equipment
  • Adhere to infection prevention protocols
  • Facilitate transitions to recovery staff
  • Delegate tasks appropriately
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Associate's degree in nursing or Diploma RN
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited RN nursing program
  • Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nursing experience
  • Valid Registered Nursing License
  • BLS (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Ability to follow oral instruction, read and write
  • Basic computer skills

  • Orthopaedic experience preferred
  • 1-year Operating Room experience, preferably in Orthopaedics
  • Scrubbing experience preferred
  • Current BLS preferred
  • EPIC preferred
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Required pre-employment screening: Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Sex Offender Registry, Substance Abuse Testing
