Job summary

Equiliem is seeking an experienced nurse for a 13-week contract in Kansas City. The role requires cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU experience and the ability to read EKGs and telemetry strips.

Start date is December 14, with a 48-hour guaranteed schedule. The unit performs post-cardiac procedures and uses Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, and other cardiac care equipment. A hospital environment with patient-centered care is essential.

Job description

Work Schedule: 48 hours guaranteed preferred

Start Date: December 14 - 13 weeks duration

Requested Skill Set

• Must have: Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience. Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
• Advanced skills needed: Experience with post-cardiac procedural care such as Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 Open Heart, and permanent Pacemaker placements. Proficiency in administering and titrating IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.

• Temporary Pacemakers
• Foley insertions

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 29
• Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Unit staffing description: Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs
• Type of equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Client beds, dinamap in each room, 3 Welch Allen Vital Machines, Wound Vacs, Temporary Pacemakers, Telemetry monitor, EKG Machine, Bladder Scanner, Doppler, Imobile for communication between team members
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Scheduling requirements: Must work full-time hours including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period.
• Floating policy: Contract Nurses will be floated to any area where they have demonstrated competency.
• Patient Experience requirements: Must align with our patient experience goals by treating every patient with courtesy and respect and being responsive to the call light. This includes using the patient's preferred name, making personal connections, involving the patient in bedside shift reports, teaching the patient how to use the phone to call the nurse directly, and always asking if there is anything else you can do before leaving the room.
