Job summary

AdventHealth in Calhoun, GA seeks a registered nurse to join the Surgical Services team. The role involves collecting patient health data, validating diagnoses with the care team, and planning individualized care plans.

You will assist with surgery prep, document handoffs, educate patients, and ensure safety. Qualifications include RN licensure and BLS, with 1+ year experience in Med-Surgical or surgical settings preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license required
• BLS CPR certification required
• 1+ year experience in Med‑Surgical, Surgical, or endoscopy nursing preferred
• Associate degree in Nursing required

Responsibilities

• Collects patient health data systematically and documents relevant information.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine and validate diagnoses with the patient, family, and healthcare providers.
• Identifies and formulates expected outcomes based on diagnoses, ensuring they are realistic and culturally appropriate.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff to promote a positive environment.
• Educates patients on procedures and safety, assists with surgery prep including IVs and handoffs, and documents actions taken.
• Implements and evaluates plans of care, revising as needed, and administers medications per policy.
• Demonstrates competent use of equipment in Surgical Services and performs other duties as assigned

Job Description:

Collects patient health data systematically and documents relevant information. Analyzes assessment data to determine and validate diagnoses with the patient, family, and healthcare providers. Identifies and formulates expected outcomes based on diagnoses, ensuring they are realistic, attainable, and culturally appropriate. Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment. Educates patients on procedures, answers related questions, and ensures patient safety throughout care. Assists with patient preparation for surgery, including starting IVs, documenting pertinent information, and reporting critical values. Ensures accurate and complete handoff to/from surgery, including verifying consent and compliance with hospital policy. Develops individualized plans of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare providers, ensuring continuity and documentation. Implements interventions from the plan of care safely, timely, and appropriately, documenting actions taken. Evaluates patient progress towards outcomes systematically, revising diagnoses, outcomes, and plans of care as needed. Administers medications accurately and in compliance with policy. Demonstrates competent technical skills and operational knowledge of all equipment used in the Surgical Services department. Other duties as assigned.
