Purpose of Position : Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Administers and monitors patient responses to all medications. Directs and guides patient care, teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing within the realm of Hospital Policy. Maintains and delivers the highest quality customer service standards.
Responsibilities
- Properlyutilizesthe nursing process in caring for patients bymaintainingrelevant,accurateand current patient records asevidencedby Nursing PI activities.
- Provides documentation of assessment of the patient throughout theHospitaladmission including physical, psychological, social dimensions and discharge plans. Summarizes assessment data andinitiateplanof care with communication of pertinent data to allied patient care providers asevidencedby Nursing PI activities.
- Understands, assumes, and demonstrates proficiency in the role ofchargenurse.
- Demonstratesproficiencyin Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).
- Assumesroleof resource person regarding patient care, orientation and teaching staff.
- Participates in at leastfour-unitstaff meetings per year,attendsmandatoryprogramsand obtains three hours of Patient Care Assessment Committee (PCAC) credit per year.
- Participates in identification of the aspects of care for the patient, indicators used tomonitorthe quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care. Adheres to safety, blood/body fluidpoliciesand procedures.
- Assess personal learning development needs. Maintains documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly up-dates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served. Shows a willingness toparticipateonNursing Committees.
- Representshospital in the community and within the hospital bymaintainingconfidentialityregardingpatients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services provided.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors,volunteersand co-workers.
- Performs otherwork-relatedduties and activities as assigned orrequestedhis/her immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currentlylicensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Basic Life Support Certificationrequiredand mustmaintaincertification.
- ACLS Certificationrequiredand mustmaintaincertification.
- Successful passage of CCH’s Pharmacology exam.
- Successful passage of the Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam.
- Must read,writeand communicate in English.
- PALSCertification withinsix (6)months of position and mustmaintaincertification.
- BSN Preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in I.V. starts, hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator care,required.
- One (1) year (within the last five (5) years) recent experiencerequiredin ICU/CVICU/CVPA/ER or SDC/PACU.
- Prior SDC or PACU experience preferred(within the last 5 years).
- On-call isrequiredfor off-shift,weekendsand holidays.
Schedule
Schedule Details : 32 Hours Per Week, Rotating Days, 6a-2:30p, 8a-4:30p, 10a-6:30p. On call (on-site within 30 minutes) required for Nights, Weekends and Holidays.
