Job summary

Monroe Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Staff RN for the perioperative setting in Bloomington, Indiana. The role reports to the OR leadership and coordinates with surgeons and anesthesiologists to provide safe, high‑quality perioperative care.

The position emphasizes adherence to standards, participation in performance improvement, and collaboration across departments to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active state RN license.
• BLS (AHA) certificate on hire and keep current.
• Minimum of one year perioperative experience or on‑the‑job training.
• CNOR certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain.
• PALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative setting using the nursing process.
• Coordinate care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist.
• Direct OR technicians and other personnel while maintaining standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide a continuous, quality patient experience.
• Adhere to regulations, standards, and hospital/unit policies and procedures.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in‑services.
• Serve as a resource for other OR personnel.

Responsibilities

Staff RN is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults. The Registered Nurse coordinates the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Works with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. 1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. 2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. 3. Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
4. 4. Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
5. 5. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
6. 6. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
7. 7. Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
