Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Responsible for selecting, preparing, and placing instruments and supplies in a specified order. Scrubs for procedures as a scrub nurse/scrub tech/assistant. Handles identification, disassembly, decontamination, inspection, assembly, and processing of all reusable supplies and patient care equipment used in the hospital.
Reports to: Director of Surgical Services.
Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
Documents patient care provided.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Practices strict adherence to sterile technique and equipment instructions to prevent infection and contamination.
May assist with Pre-Admission Testing, Interventional Radiology Nursing Care, and Cardiographics as needed with competency completion.
Minimum Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or RN Diploma required.
Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, and ability to work in stressful environments.
Certifications: BLS required upon hire or within 90 days; ACLS, PALS required within 12 months; NRP required within 12 months; CNOR preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: 1-2 years OR experience preferred; on-call required.
Licenses: Registered Nurse with current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
