Directs the delivery of patient care by the nursing staff on a specified shift of duty. Assures compliance with Pennsylvania State Long Term Care Regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attainment of the Standards of Practice and Standards of Gerontological Nursing Practice as published by the American Nurses' Association and as adopted by the Nursing Services Department of Neshaminy Manor.
- Provides patient care and delegates patient care duties to the nursing staff.
- Responsibility for the performance of the nursing staff on all units.
- Manages equipment and supplies distributed to the clinical units for patient care.
- Interacts with the Director of Nursing and other Nursing Supervisors.
- Responsibility for enactment of Nursing Services Department and Neshaminy Manor Administrative Policies and Procedures.
- Interacts with residents, family members and visitors.
- Interacts with the attending and consulting physicians.
- Interacts with personnel of all other departments such as Social Service, Dietary, Pharmacy, Medical Records, Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator, Housekeeping, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Maintenance, volunteers, Activities, Infection Control, Director of Education, Safety, Procurement and Central Supply.
- Participates in the facilities Quality Assurance Program.
- Interacts with non-facility ancillary services related to resident care.
- At times, serves as the RN Supervisor responsible for the facility's health services on all days of the week on 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. or 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shifts.
- Provides pertinent information concerning residents to the other facility staff, physicians, family and administration.
- Wound Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assessing skin alterations, developing plans of care, implementing orders and treatments, and evaluating progress of specialized skin and wound conditions.
- Wound Nurse Supervisor evaluates new admissions and readmissions. Participates in weekly wound rounds, documents status, insures notification of physicians and family of changes and provides education to nursing staff.
- Wound Nurse Supervisor identifies wound types, analyzes trends, and supervises nursing personnel to deliver nursing care, and, within scope of practice, coordinate care delivery which will ensure patients’ needs are met in accordance with the Professional Standards of Practice through physician orders, center policies and procedures, and federal, state and local guidelines.
- Employees may be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job. More detailed instructions will be given to employees at the beginning of work.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. - Possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in clinical nursing, preferably in a geriatric setting.
- Supervisory experience in a healthcare facility preferred.
- Wound Care Certification is preferred.
- Prior wound care experience is required.
- Ability to transfer and follow treatment procedures for residents and maintain medical records.
- Ability to respond quickly to any unit in a medical emergency.
