Job summary

Cook Children’s Health Care System in Fort Worth is seeking an RN Supervisor, Utilization Management, to lead STAR/ CHIP/ STAR Kids workgroups, coaching UM/ECM RNs and support staff to meet department goals and ensure efficient benefits and LTSS processes.

This role focuses on motivating the team, training on UM workflows, and delivering constructive feedback while maintaining strong communication, organization, and timely decision-making in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• RN License in Texas.
• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience.
• 2 years Utilization Management experience.
• 1–2 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency in computer applications and typing (35 wpm).
• Strong oral and written communication, problem solving, organization and time management, customer service, and coaching.

Responsibilities

• Supervise STAR/ CHIP/ STAR Kids workgroups (Pods) of UM/ECM RNs and staff to meet department goals.
• Act as process owner and SME for program benefits and LTSS.
• Motivate, coach and provide resources to team members.
• Train and certify team members on UM processes and essential skills.
• Assess team members' abilities and provide customized skills training.
• Provide positive and constructive feedback to direct the team toward goals.

Summary

Responsible for supervising, coaching, mentoring STAR/ CHIP/ or STAR Kids workgroups (Pods) comprised of UM/ECM RN and support staff to achieve department goals and objectives. Acts as process owner and subject matter expert for program benefits and long‑term supports and services (LTSS).

Key Responsibilities

The RN Supervisor, Utilization Management, will offer motivation, encouragement, and resources to team members. Assists individual team members to set and accomplish goals, trains and certifies team members on all applicable processes and essential skills related to Utilization Management, assesses individual member’s existing abilities and provides customized skills training to ensure each member can properly perform job functions, and provides positive and constructive feedback to direct the team toward goals.

Hours

Mon-Fri 8 am‑5 pm

Required Education, Experience and Licensure

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• RN License in Texas.
• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience.
• 2 years of Utilization Management experience required.
• 1 to 2 years experience in a supervisory role preferred.
• Proficiency in use of computer applications and typing speed (35 words per minute minimum).
• Strong skills in oral and written communication, problem‑solving, organization and time management, customer service, knowledge of adult teaching and learning, coaching.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
