Oversee and manage Nursing & Medical Assistant staff and departmental functions, ensuring productivity, efficiency, accuracy and safety. This supervisor will oversee Cardiology and Anticoagulation staff. May provide professional nursing care for patients, following established standards and practices.

Compensation Pay Range $103,000.00 - $153,700.00

Essential Functions
  • Direct the daily operations of the department ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Ensure adherence to departmental goals and objective.
  • Participate in the nursing process to ensure the provision of quality patient care.
  • Delegate staff assignments appropriately.
  • Order supplies and maintain departmental inventory. Ensure all equipment is used properly and adequately maintained.
  • Resolve patient issues and reports these problems appropriately to Manager and Providers.
  • Promote a culture of safety by assisting staff to report incidents in web-based safety reporting system; follow policies for employee and patient injuries.
  • Ensure quality control through established specific measures.
  • Participate in the assessment of staffing needs by maintaining a master work schedule adjusting staff and forecasting staffing needs.
  • Complete weekly time sheets and reports over-time to Manager. Participates in the management of the departmental budget.
  • Assist in the selection and hiring of staff. Oversees orientation and preceding of all new staff educational needs and staff development plans.
  • Participate in the training and evaluation of staff. Consult with Nurse Educator regarding staff educational needs and staff development plans.
  • Communicate changes and quality improvements with staff by conducting daily huddles, departmental meetings, and communication book, etc
  • Work collaboratively with Operations Manager. Communicate problems that may arise in a timely manner. Address personnel problems, i.e.: problems with Time and Attendance.
  • Communicate problems that may arise withl Operations Manager.
  • Attend and participates in assigned Management Meetings.
  • Work as a Team member across organization. Work collaboratively with all departments.
  • Communicate effectively with other Managers and Supervisors.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Have knowledge of and adhere to the SSMC Mission Statement and all SSMC policies and procedures.
  • Abide by and promote all SSMC Service Standards.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

BSN required.

Minimum Work Experience

Two or more years of previous nursing experience required.

Experience In An Ambulatory Environment Preferred.

Experience with telephone triage experience required.

Required Licenses / Registrations

Current MA State RN nursing license

Required Classes/Certifications

BLS - Basic Life Support

Required Additional Knowledge And Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to treat the patient and staff respectfully, with patience and compassion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Employee must demonstrate computer proficiency through efficient use of the electronic medical record, patient registration/billing system, e-mail, and other computer software as required.
  • Flexibility regarding scheduling may be requested from time-to-time in keeping with clinical or business concerns.
  • Must be comfortable providing direct patient care in an ambulatory setting when needed.
  • Ability to travel to Weymouth and offsite in Norwell for meetings and staff / operations support.
  • Monday-Friday day shift when clinic is running operations; occasional on call
License/Registration/Certification Requirements
  • ACLS (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • INSTRUCTOR- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Board of Registration in Nursing (Massachusetts)
