Job summary

Corewell Health's Trenton Hospital seeks a Nurse Supervisor to coordinate nursing staff and resources across urgent, inpatient, and operative services. You will lead crisis management efforts, interpret policies, and ensure timely communication between departments to support safe patient care 24/7.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Three years of relevant clinical nursing experience required.
• One year of relevant formal nursing leadership experience required for external applicants.
• One year of relevant demonstrated informal leadership experience required for internal applicants, may include but are not to: Charge Lead Nurse, Charge Nurse responsibilities, leadership on behalf of unit/site/system at Shared Governance Council required.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the continuous and timely availability of urgent care, emergency, inpatient, and operative services to patients and families.
• Continuously monitors daily operations by integrating data from electronic systems, personal communication, and physical unit rounds to assure patient care effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.
• Ensures the safety and quality of patient care by allocating and redirecting resources, considering care demands related to acuity, patient and unit requirements and staff skill mix.
• Coordinates the routine flow of scheduled, direct, and emergency patient admissions to efficiently place patients in the appropriate care location, maximize capacity, improve satisfaction of patients, families and referring providers.
• Coordinates the organizational response during times of high census: collaborating with administrators and nursing directors, the Emergency Department, Surgery Department, Critical Care, Cath Lab and Inpatient Nursing Units.
• Promotes communication at all levels.
• Collaborates with care management, the medical staff, and the interdisciplinary team to promote smooth, timely, and efficient patient throughput.
• Upholds professional standards of care by demonstrating leadership skills and a high level of clinical competency while striving to achieve the system Mission and Vision.
