Job summary

Jackson Hospital and Clinic is seeking an RN apprentice who will perform nursing care activities on a unit under supervision, progressing with the RN role by adhering to standards of practice and collaborating with the health care team.

The role requires completion of a fundamentals course, enrollment in an accredited nursing program participating in the Alabama apprenticeship program, and possession of a current ABN Student Nurse Apprentice Permit prior to start date.

Qualifications

• Fundamentals or equivalent course completed at an accredited nursing school.
• Enrolled in a nursing program participating in the Alabama apprenticeship program.
• Maintain good academic standing in the nursing program.
• Possess a current Student Nurse Apprentice Permit issued by the ABN before start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care on a unit during shift.
• Collaborate with the health care team to meet standards of practice.
• Manage assigned personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit.
• Follow Alabama Board of Nursing apprenticeship program standards.

Job Description

The RN apprentice, followed by the RN performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for the assigned patients on a unit during a shift based on current academic level. The RN apprentice, followed by the RN is responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice, which includes managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit and for the collaboration with all members of the health care team. The RN apprentice is also responsible for following the standards set by the Alabama board of nursing for the apprenticeship program.
