Job summary

Trinity Health Livonia seeks a Registered Nurse for a 12‑hour night shift on a 9‑bed Stepdown Unit, delivering critical care with close monitoring and rapid response when conditions change.

The RN will coordinate care, teach patients and families, and work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high‑quality outcomes. Michigan licensure and BLS are required; BSN preferred with commitment to professional growth.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; ADN required; Michigan RN license and BLS are required.
• Must be computer proficient and provide excellent customer service.
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care during assigned shift and coordinate with health care team.

This 9-bed Stepdown Unit provides critical care for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, septic shock, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and NSTEMI. This high-acuity environment demands fine attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition. Nurses in this unit deliver exceptional care while bridging the gap between intensive care and general medical-surgical settings.

SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is accountable for the management of patient care during a designated timeframe. The responsibilities include coordination and evaluation of care, teaching and delegation of patient activities to the other health care team members via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and the environment.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associates degree in Nursing required. BSN degree preferred or must agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five years. Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan required. BLS required. Previous medical surgical experience preferred. Must be computer proficient and have excellent customer service skills.
