Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA, is seeking a Registered Nurse to lead a group of patients during the 7am-7pm shift and coordinate care with Respiratory Therapists, LPNs, and Unit Assistants.

The role emphasizes collaboration, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care within a community-focused acute care setting on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Required credentials include an LA RN license, board-certified nursing, and current BLS/ALS/PALS; TNCC/NRP and CPI are due

Qualifications

• Board certified nursing program completed.
• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current Louisiana RN licensure.
• BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications (ILCOR courses with manikin check off).
• TNCC and NRP certifications within 1 year of hire.
• CPI certification within 6 months of hire.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: TBD

Work Shift: 7am-7pm

Summary of the Job: Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame and to provide care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. Supervises the activities of Respiratory Therapists, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Unit Assistants.

Minimum Qualifications

• Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program.
• Associate Degree required, Baccalaureate degree preferred.
• Current LA RN licensure.
• Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.
• The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
• TNCC and NRP certifications required within 1 year of hire.
• CPI certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Basic computer skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Emergency Department experience preferred.

Physical Demands

• Must possess good physical health.
• Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
• Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
• Physical Effort required: Constant (67%-100%) - seeing Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching
