Job summary

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to care for patients in a 36-hour workweek schedule with a 7am–7pm shift.

The role includes supervising a team of clinical staff, coordinating care via established nursing processes and collaborating with the health care team to ensure high-quality outcomes. Minimum qualifications include LA RN licensure, Board Certified Nursing Program and BLS/ALS/PALS certifications, with ALS/PALS completed within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Board Certified Nursing Program completed.
• Current LA RN licensure.
• BLS, ALS and PALS certifications (ALS/PALS within 6 months of hire) through ILCOR courses.
• ILCOR courses must include a manikin check off.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36

Work Shift: 7am-7pm

Summary of the Job: Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame and to provide care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. Supervises the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants, Monitor Technicians, Certified Nursing Assistance, Nurse Technicians, unit clerks and Paramedic technicians.

Minimum Qualifications

• Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program.
• Current LA RN licensure.
• Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications (ALS/PALS within 6 months of hire) through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.
• The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of acute Emergency Department experience preferred.

Physical Demands

• Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
• Lifting at least 20 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
• Physical Effort required: Constant (67%-100%) - seeing.
• Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing.
• Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching.
