Job description

The RN Staff Nurse Limited Benefits is a full‑time position at LCMC Health. This role is responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing, and reviewing patient care, and ensuring compliance with standards and policies.

General Duties

• Facilitate and maintain a safe environment for patients and others.
• Perform priority technical procedures required by the area/department/assignment safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.
• Consistently implement infection control practices and maintain the environment of care in line with Joint Commission requirements; participate in quality‑improvement activities and audit processes.
• Provide rationale for actions or decisions based on logic, experience, intuition, and established policies.
• Communicate verbally and in writing clearly, concisely, and accurately; use positive non‑verbal communication and document responsibly.
• Demonstrate compliance with all state and federal regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g., patient safety, infection control, HIPAA).
• Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient care.
• Organize, prioritize, and coordinate all aspects of care for each assigned patient.
• Delegate activities to professional and non‑professional personnel and supervise unit personnel providing care.
• Communicate changes in patient condition, laboratory data, intake and output, nutrition status, assessment findings, shift reports, unit problems, equipment defects, and supply usage to appropriate persons.
• Keep patients informed and provide periodic updates; contribute to organizational patient‑throughput goals.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to improve patient care and education.
• Seek supervision, consultation, or assistance when needed, and advise supervisor of current or anticipated problems.
• Provide safe and appropriate hand‑off to ensure continuity of care.
• Use appropriate learning principles to collaborate with patient‑education resources; work with PT, OT, ST, and social work to meet family needs.
• Display a positive attitude that contributes to patient satisfaction and address concerns or complaints promptly.
• Sees opportunities to share knowledge and support team members, fostering learning and performance.

Professional Development

• Maintain current knowledge in nursing practice.
• Participate in activities to expand nursing knowledge such as continuing‑education credits, professional organization membership, and ACLS training.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
• American Heart Association BLS‑HCP.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – must receive within 90 days for NOEH employees.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – must receive within 90 days for NOEH employees.
• Non‑Violent Crisis Prevention (CPI, NCI‑CPI) – must receive within 90 days for NOEH employees.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – must receive within 90 days for NOEH employees.

Functional Demands

• Medium physical requirements: occasional lifting of 20‑50 lbs, frequent lifting of 10‑25 lbs.
• Sitting occasional, standing and walking continuous throughout workday.
