The RN Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on the standards of care and the policies of LCMC Health. The RN delegates to professional and non-professional personnel involved in the delivery of care.

Job Description

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. The RN Staff Nurse will:

  • Facilitate and maintain a safe environment for patients and others
  • Utilize the nursing process to develop and deliver a plan of care for assigned patients
  • Perform the priority technical procedures required by the area, department, and/or assignment safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care activities based on the following: acuity of the need, resource availability, customer/patient preference/request, and other departmental needs
  • Communicate using appropriate channels, proper hand-off, and escalation of information, data, and significant events of problems to appropriate persons

Qualifications

  • Valid license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana
  • American Heart Association BLS-HCP
  • For MICU Department: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
