Job summary

Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to deliver critical care to premature and sick newborns and support families by clearly communicating the plan of care and scope of treatment.

Role responsibilities include evaluating patient needs, planning and delegating care while maintaining standards of practice and ensuring positive patient outcomes during each shift.

Qualifications

• Graduate of state board School of Nursing with Alabama licensure.
• Experience preferred; new graduates accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional neonatal ICU nursing care following established standards, assessing patient needs and delegating planned care.
• Identify priorities, plan and evaluate care, and communicate effectively with parents about plan of care and treatment.
• Maintain accountability for patient outcomes during assigned shift.

Job description

Maintains established standards of care, policies, objective, and goals in administering professional nursing care to all patients. The RN identifies patient needs and priorities for care through assessment, plans and delegates care based on patient needs, evaluates the patient’s response to care, and is accountable for outcomes of patient care delivered during the assigned shift. Neonatal intensive care unit Registered Nurses provide critical care to premature and sick newborns and offer support to parents through effective communication regarding the plan of care and scope of treatment.

Responsibilities

• FT, PT, and PRN RNs will work every 3rd weekend in accordance with their weekend rotation.
• PRN employee is required to work 8 shifts in a 6‑week period.
• All hired positions will work full‑time hours (3 shifts each week) during the orientation period.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of state board School of Nursing with current Alabama or multi‑state licensure.
• Experience: Experience preferred; new graduates accepted.
• Additional Skill/Abilities: BLS and NRP required and will be obtained during orientation.
