Job Title: Experienced Charge Nurse - Surgical Care Unit

Children's National, ranked among the TOP 10 CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS IN THE NATION by U.S. News & World Report 2024-2025, is seeking experienced Charge Nurses for our Surgical Care Unit. We are a Magnet designated hospital and the leading pediatric care provider in the Washington, DC area, with a team of over 6,000 dedicated professionals committed to delivering world-class care in a family-friendly environment.

Our Surgical Care Unit is a 31-bed unit specializing in family-centered nursing care for pediatric patients with surgical conditions, including orthopedic issues, burns, trauma, and other specialized surgical needs from infancy through adolescence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate nursing activities on the unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.
  • Assess patient and family needs, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Manage staffing levels and skill mix, collaborating with management for complex staffing issues.
  • Serve as a resource for clinical decision-making and discharge planning.
  • Promote effective communication among team members, patients, and families.
  • Support and participate in performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, legal regulations, and professional standards.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment and participate in community and organizational activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in pediatric care (Required)
  • Current Registered Nurse license in District of Columbia
  • Successful completion of hospital and nursing orientation at CNMC

Position: Nursing - Patient Services, Full-Time, Rotating Shifts, 36 hours/week, EOWE schedule

Salary Range: $82,347.20 - $137,238.40 annually
