Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) Seasonal PRN will use the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. The RN assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements individualized plans of care, and evaluates patient outcomes, while delegating interventions based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act.

Seasonal (13 weeks); 7pm-7am

Requirements

2 years of recent ICU experience.

Registered Nurse (RN) license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Essential Functions
  • Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate clinical assessments, identify and prioritize patient and family needs, develop, implement and evaluate the nursing plan of care, and modify the plan to meet clinical outcomes.
  • Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, support evidence-based practice changes, and participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
  • Caring Practices: Create a compassionate, supportive, safe and therapeutic environment, maintain appropriate boundaries, and manage pain to promote comfort and healing.
  • Response to Diversity: Integrate cultural, spiritual and other differences into individualized plans of care.
  • Advocacy and Moral Agency: Protect confidentiality, autonomy, dignity and rights; identify and resolve ethical and clinical concerns.
  • Facilitation of Learning: Facilitate learning for patients, families, staff and community, integrating education throughout the continuum of care.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues and community, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure timely follow‑up.
  • Systems Thinking: Use strategies and resources for problem‑solving, recognize limited resources, and consider safety, effectiveness and efficiency in patient care planning.
