Job summary

St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School in Austin, TX seeks a dedicated school nurse to serve as the health and wellness expert for our community. The role supports approximately 550 students in PreK–8 and about 450 students in 9–12 on both campuses, working full-time during the school year.

The nurse will provide patient care, manage records, and collaborate with families, teachers, and health agencies to maintain a safe learning environment, including diabetic care and peanut-aware protocols.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Texas required.
• Experience with pediatric health care and school health programs preferred.
• Strong communication, confidentiality, and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care to ill or injured students and staff during the school day.
• Manage health records in accordance with Texas state and Diocese of Austin requirements.
• Coordinate health curriculum with physical education and liaise with families, doctors, and community health agencies.
• Maintain electronic health records within the school system and ensure immunizations and physicals are up to date.
• Provide medical oversight during off-campus activities and coordinate health-related programs and trainings.
