Job summary

HCA Florida Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse for Same Day Surgery.

You will evaluate patients pre-op, educate families, prepare patients for surgery, and participate in surgical safety protocols with a dynamic interdisciplinary team. This role emphasizes evidence-based nursing care, rapid but thorough patient assessment, and close collaboration with OR staff to ensure optimal outcomes and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of Florida.
• ACLS and BLS certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and peri-operative care.
• Prepare patients, administer IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Assist with surgical site verification, briefing, time out and debriefing.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to emergencies.
• Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care in the OR setting.
• Collaborate with surgeons, techs and other staff to optimize workflow and safety.
• Document changes and education provided to patients and families.
