Job summary

Midland Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) focused on patient safety to join our team in Midland, Texas. The RN will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, implementing care plans, and reporting patient outcomes. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory, along with two years of acute care experience.

Job description

Overview

The RN, with a focus on patient safety, functions within the legal scope of practice and in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The RN functions under his or her own license and is accountable for the quality of care provided to patients and their families according to standards of nursing practice. The RN demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in nursing practice through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.

Shift and Schedule

We have both Day & Night PRN shifts available (12-hour shifts; 7A-7P or 7P-7A). A recruitment specialist will discuss what schedule best fits your needs.

Essential Functions/Performance Expectations
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment, including initial and ongoing data collection and interpretation.
  • Synthesize data from the comprehensive assessment to identify problems, formulate nursing diagnoses, and develop goals, teaching plans, and expected outcomes.
  • Implement the plan of care by initiating, delivering, or delegating certain interventions within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters, and considering health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
  • Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions against evidence-based benchmarks, plan follow-up care, and refer to appropriate resources as needed.
Education And Experience
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is required.
  • Two years of experience in an acute care setting are required.
  • Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse or compact license allowing practice in Texas.
  • Certification within area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR) preferred.
  • ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC required within 12 months of employment to be scheduled in the ED. ACLS is required within 6 months to be scheduled in CCU or PACU areas.
  • Preceptor education training in Elsevier within 1 year of hire is required.
  • Eight hours of hospital-provided continuing education upon hire and annually for Total Joint and Spine, focusing on management/care of total hip, knee, shoulder replacement, and elective spine surgery patients.

  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak, and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff, with use of an assisted-lift device or assistance for lifts exceeding these limits.
