Job summary

OU Health is seeking an RN Resident for the Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown unit (Spring Cohort) to work night shifts. Under general supervision, you will provide nursing care to a variety of patients, document responses to treatments, assist physicians, and monitor patients’ vital signs and IV infusions.

You will collaborate with families to explain care plans and coordinate referrals as needed. The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, an active RN license (Oklahoma or eNLC),

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN License issued by state board or multistate compact RN (eNLC).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• PALS within 6 months of hire.
• Strong nursing knowledge and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and physician orders.
• Assists physician in examinations and minor procedures.
• Monitors physiological data and intervenes as needed.
• Administers medications and manages IV infusions and blood products.
• Delivers patient care competently and communicates care plans.
• Educates patient and family about hospital procedures and discharge.
• Makes referrals to appropriate personnel and delegates tasks to staff.
