Position Summary

The RN, Kenmare Rehab provides skilled nursing care to patients receiving rehabilitative services within an inpatient rural hospital setting. This role performs comprehensive assessments, monitors patient progress, and delivers individualized nursing interventions that support recovery, mobility, and functional improvement. Working collaboratively with therapy teams, physicians, and support staff, the RN helps coordinate care plans, reinforce patient education, and support safe transitions throughout the rehabilitation process. As part of a close-knit, team-oriented care environment, this position promotes patient safety, healing, and a supportive rehabilitative experience through attentive monitoring and ongoing communication with patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and monitor changes in patient condition to guide individualized rehabilitative care plans.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions in accordance with provider orders and established clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with physical, occupational, and speech therapy teams to reinforce mobility goals, safety practices, and patient progress.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and care coordination activities accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Educate patients and families regarding recovery expectations, self-care strategies, and discharge planning to support functional independence.
  • Participate in safety, quality, and performance‑improvement activities that enhance the effectiveness of rehabilitative care.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.
  • BLS certification required within orientation period.
Educational Requirements
  • RN program as evidenced by licensure.
Experience Requirements
  • Nursing experience is preferred but not required.
Special Skills or Training Requirements
  • As required by specific units.
Physical Requirements
  • The RN, Kenmare Rehab frequently stands, walks, assists with patient transfers, and supports mobility activities across the unit. The role requires bending, reaching, and lifting or repositioning patients with assistance, as well as moving equipment or supplies as needed. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for performing assessments, administering treatments, and responding to patient needs in a physically active care environment.
Environmental Requirements
  • This position works in an inpatient rehabilitation and medical‑surgical environment with regular exposure to patients recovering from illness, injury, or surgery.
