Job summary

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center in Fairlawn (near Akron) is seeking a registered nurse to support pain management and orthopedic care. You will perform comprehensive telephone nursing assessments, educate patients on recovery and postoperative care, and coordinate tests, referrals, and follow-up, while documenting in the EMR.

Ideal candidates have a BSN preferred, a valid Ohio RN license, and at least three years of clinical experience in orthopedic or ambulatory settings.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical RN experience required.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio required.
• Strong orthopedic assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive telephone nursing assessments using evidence-based triage protocols and clinical judgment.
• Educate patients regarding orthopedic conditions, postoperative recovery, wound care, medications, and activity restrictions.
• Identify urgent and emergent concerns, recognize red-flag symptoms, and coordinate timely interventions.
• Coordinate appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, medication refills, and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, clinical staff, patients, and caregivers and document in the EMR.

The Essentials

• Schedule: Full-Time 40 hours per week | Monday-Friday
• Location: Fairlawn, OH
• Specialty: Pain Management

What You’ll Do

• Conduct comprehensive telephone nursing assessments using evidence-based triage protocols and sound clinical judgment to determine the appropriate level of care.
• Provide patient education and guidance regarding orthopedic conditions, postoperative recovery, wound care, medications, activity restrictions, and durable medical equipment.
• Identify urgent and emergent concerns, recognize red-flag symptoms, and coordinate timely interventions to promote patient safety and positive outcomes.
• Coordinate appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, medication refill requests, follow-up care, and transitions of care following surgery or hospitalization.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, patients, and caregivers while accurately documenting assessments, care coordination activities, and provider communications within the EMR.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical RN experience required. Orthopedic, ambulatory care, emergency department, medical-surgical, or telephone triage experience preferred.
• License/Certifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio required.
• Skills: Strong orthopedic assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills. Knowledge of postoperative orthopedic care and evidence-based telephone triage guidelines preferred. Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills with proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications
