Job summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the Surgical ICU night shift. This full-time role requires delivering advanced nursing care to critically ill patients and managing high-acuity conditions.

You will perform complex assessments, operate specialized monitors and equipment, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Maintains current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.
• 1 year experience required unless AVP level approval.

Responsibilities

• W Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, including complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.
• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic systems.
• Responds to emergencies with evidence-based, life-saving interventions and preplanned protocols when physicians are unavailable.
• Assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients and families.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, serves in leadership or educational roles, and supports unit and hospital goals.
• Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures compliance with regulatory and evidence-based standards.
• Demonstrates compassionate, age-appropriate care while maintaining legal awareness, patient rights, and a therapeutic environment.

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

Experience

• 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above; New Graduate RNs may be considered.
