Job summary

Gundersen Health System is hiring an RN for the Orthopedic Unit in Wisconsin. The role offers 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two weeks) with 8-hour night shifts from 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Every other weekend and three holidays per year. Starting pay is $38.96/hour plus shift, weekend, and holiday differentials. The ideal candidate holds an ADN (BSN preferred), Wisconsin RN licensure, and BLS certification, with opportunities for career growth through the Career Development Center and Tuition Investment

Qualifications

  • ADN is required; BSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in Wisconsin upon hire.
  • BLS certification for Healthcare Providers is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide love and medicine to orthopedic patients with fractures, joint replacements, and trauma injuries.
  • Develop expertise in acute surgical and orthopedic care, including traction, splint/cast care, postoperative recovery, and wound care.
  • Support patients through recovery to restore mobility, function and quality of life.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, APPs, PTs, OT, social workers, CNAs, and RNs.

What You Will Work
  • 0.8 FTE | 64 hours every two weeks
  • 8-hour night shifts (10:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.)

What You Will Do
  • Provide Love + Medicine to orthopedic patients with fractures, joint replacements, and major or minor traumatic injuries.
  • Develop expertise in the care of acute surgical and orthopedic patients, including traction management, splint and cast care, postoperative recovery, and wound care.
  • Care for patients throughout their recovery journey, helping them restore mobility, function, and quality of life.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians, advanced practice clinicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, CNAs, and fellow RNs.

What You Need
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure in Wisconsin upon hire
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
  • New graduate and experienced RNs are encouraged to apply
