UAB Medicine's 4 Surgical unit at UAB St. Vincent's East is seeking an experienced RN for PRN Nights to provide direct nursing care in a fast-paced orthopedic, bariatric, and neurosurgical setting. You will implement care plans, monitor patients, and coordinate care with the team.

The role requires BLS and Alabama RN licensure, a nursing diploma, and at least one year of nursing experience. UAB Medicine offers growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

4 Surgical is an 18 bed unit specializing in patients undergoing orthopedic, bariatric, and neurosurgical procedures.

The hospital is the leading joint replacement procedural area within UAB St. Vincent's, with world class orthopedic and bariatric surgeons who use the cutting edge of joint replacement, bariatric, and neurosurgery technology. This fast-paced unit specializes in quick turnarounds following surgery, with our dedicated nurses and physicians providing care that is guided by excellence and is centered on the needs of our patient population.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required. One Year of Nursing Experience Required
