Job summary

Generations Hospice is seeking a passionate On-Call Registered Nurse to join our team in Wisconsin. You’ll provide 1:1 end-of-life care, collaborating with social work, chaplaincy, aides, and providers to offer compassionate support during after-hours on-call shifts.

This full-time role features a 7ON 7OFF schedule, travel throughout the territory, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, mileage reimbursement, and tuition

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN licensure in the state of operation.
• One year nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred.
• Experience in hospice or similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of hospice philosophy of care.
• Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, 1:1 hospice care to patients and families.
• Collaborate with Remote Triage On-Call team for after-hours support.
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms with compassion.
• Administer or adjust medications per hospice protocols or orders.
• Communicate changes in condition to physicians and obtain orders as needed.
• Pronounce death when applicable and coordinate with funeral services.
• Complete timely documentation and handoffs.

Full Time 7ON 7OFF Weekdays Monday-Thursday 430p-8a & Friday starting at 4:30PM through Monday 8AM

As a On-Call RN You will:

• Collaborate with Remote Triage On Call Team to deliver hands-on care to hospice patients and offer supportive services to their families during after-hours, on an on-call basis
• Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately
• Administer medication or adjust care based on hospice protocols or provider orders
• Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary
• Offer guidance and support to the patient and family in understanding the current condition and anticipating the next steps
• If a death occurs during on-call hours, the RN will go to the home or facility to pronounce death, provide support to the family, contact the funeral home, and notify the hospice team
• Complete timely documentation and communication
