RN - Registered Nurse (Levels 1-3) - Outpatient Radiation Therapy - Stephenson Cancer Center - Part-Time

Job Description:

*Registered Nurse positions are available at Levels I, II or III, depending on experience and education.*

Location: Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City

Shift: Part-Time (20 hours/week) 8-hour shifts

Radiation Oncology is a fast-paced clinic with 10 attending physicians and 4 midlevel providers. Our team collaborates with various disciplines to provide care to patients considering, currently receiving, or previously treated with radiation therapy.

Radiation Oncology Nurses have a hybrid role as both clinic and procedural nurses, supporting pre-op, intra-procedure circulation, and post-procedure recovery, often involving anesthesia. Nurses work closely with providers and anesthesia teams. The clinic also provides inpatient radiation treatments as needed.

General Description:

The RN I is a novice or advanced beginner progressing to competent, relying initially on rules and beginning to formulate principles with experience.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain professional practice standards.
  • Manage assigned patient(s), document responses, assist with examinations and procedures, monitor physiological data, administer medications, and deliver safe, competent care.
  • Resolve patient complaints, communicate care plans, make referrals, seek mentorship, maintain certifications, develop career and performance goals, foster inclusivity, delegate tasks, and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (RN I):
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • 0-3 years of patient care experience.
  • Current RN License (Oklahoma State Board or multistate eNLC).
  • BLS certification upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications (RN II):
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • 3-5 years of patient care experience.
  • Current RN License, BLS certification, and preferred specialty certifications.
Minimum Qualifications (RN III):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Master's preferred.
  • 5+ years of patient care experience.
  • Current RN License, BLS certification, and preferred specialty certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, ability to organize and evaluate nursing services, maintain civility and relationships, respond to cultural needs, utilize computer applications, advocate for patients, manage conflicts, ensure compliance, and foster diversity.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
