Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio is seeking a Registered Nurse for weekend coverage in the Surgery department. The role—Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 19:00 to 07:30—focuses on patient care within a busy operating room setting and limited call requirements.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurse leaders to deliver safe, evidence-based care, while supporting families and adhering to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

• Graduate from nursing school.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• 2 years of experience for Casual RNs.
• New graduate RNs with less than one year of clinical experience are enrolled in Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care, ensures patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives within the Magnet Recognition Model.
• Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care.
• Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
• Documents assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients per standards.
• Assumes responsibility for care provided and documented by other staff as appropriate.

Position Purpose:

This position is scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1900 to 0730. No call responsibilities are required, as the associate fulfills the department's weekend coverage needs by working every weekend.

The Surgery department at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s has a total of 12 operating rooms. The Registered Nurse would expect to see cases related to ENT, general, gyn, maxillofacial, neuro, ortho, plastics, podiatry, robotics, urology, and vascular. Mount Carmel St. Ann’s has great surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurse leaders that display excellent team work and collaboration. The department has a family like feel and is an overall great environment to work in with a minimal call requirement.

The Registered Nurse RN, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Registered Nurse RN, collaborates in the spirit of teamwork is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the Organization.

What you will do:

• Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program.
• Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice. Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
• Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner. Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
• Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate from school of nursing.
• Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• For Casual RNs 2 years of experience is required.
• All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.
