Job summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for its Float Pool. This full-time role covers a day shift with three 12-hour shifts, providing high-level nursing care to critically ill patients and supporting the care team.

The position requires Alabama RN licensure, BLS certification, and 1+ year of acute care RN experience, with 2+ years preferred. Collaboration with physicians and staff is essential to deliver safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• At least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting; 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments and high-intensity interventions.
• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.
• Operates, monitors, and adjusts specialized medical equipment and interprets data from monitoring systems.
• Responds to emergencies using established nursing standards, protocols, and life-saving interventions.
• Assesses patient needs, develops and revises individualized care plans, and evaluates patient outcomes.
• Advocates for patients and families while ensuring age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams and may serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.
• Documents care accurately, delegates tasks appropriately, and ensures compliance with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

• Required: At least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting
• Preferred: At least 2 years of RN experience in an acute care setting
