Job summary

UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the Cardiovascular ICU Stepdown team. This 8-bed unit cares for patients recovering from cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, as well as heart catheterization procedures.

You will implement and monitor patient care plans, coordinate discharge needs, and collaborate with the healthcare team. A Diploma in nursing and Alabama RN licensure are required, with BLS within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire (AHA or ARC accepted).
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as an RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care per policies and protocols.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans and communicates patient condition.
• Coordinates care across disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Follows physician and nursing orders.
• Assists with discharge planning needs.

Job description

Th e Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is an 8-bed stepdown unit provid ing care for patients recovering from cardiac , thoracic, and vascular surgeries as well as heart catheterization procedures. We provide certain care techniques like telemetry monitoring and advanced post-operative management. This unit ser ves as a transitional step between CVICU and other acute care units, offering nurses a unique opportunity to develop their nursing skills and cardiovascular expertise .

What You Will Do

• Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the
  healthcare organization.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
