Job summary

UAB Medicine's CVICU department is seeking a Nurse Manager to supervise and coordinate activities of associates while directing daily operations. This role requires strong clinical leadership in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and oversight of patient care delivery.

Qualified candidates hold an Alabama RN license, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of cumulative job-specific experience. This on-site role offers full-time daytime hours in Birmingham, Alabama under UAB St.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required before hire (AHA/Red Cross accepted).
• RN credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.
• 1 year of cumulative job-specific experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assess daily patient access needs and ensure appropriate patient care is provided; oversee nursing department operations.
• Deliver quality patient care and ensure implementation of clinical objectives.
• Delegate duties to clinical staff based on skills, maintaining proficiency.
• Collaborate with department leadership to keep processes up to date and followed.
• Participate in quality initiatives, audits and improvement plans.
• Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.

What You Will Do

Supervise, coordinate, and provide leadership while directing activities of associates.

Responsibilities

• Assess daily patient access needs and ensures that appropriate patient care is provided. Provide oversight involving all aspects of nursing department operations.
• Deliver quality patient care and ensures implementation of clinical objectives.
• Delegate appropriate duties to clinical staff based on their assessed skills and abilities, maintaining proficiencies related to job functions and processes through ongoing monitoring of daily operations.
• Collaborate with department leadership to ensure processes are up to date and followed.
• Participate with ongoing quality initiatives, auditing projects and development of plans for improvement.
• Conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
