Geisinger is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) to work primary nursing support in the Cardiac Cath area. Qualifications

Job Summary

Location: Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) – Shift: Days. Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Worker type: Regular. Exemption status: No. Hiring incentive: $15,000 recruitment loan paid over 2 years (certain stipulations apply). 8‑hour shift position, Monday through Friday with rotating start times between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Union position.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing support in the Cardiac Cath area, working directly with fellowship‑trained interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists.
• Assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment of patients, including triage of patient sick calls, obtaining and documenting medical history, vital signs, and medical data.
• Prepare patients for examinations and oversee chart checks to ensure all necessary testing is available for the provider visit.
• Assist in procedures directed by the provider to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, complete associated paperwork, and expedite laboratory studies with accuracy and efficiency.
• Administer medications, IV push medications, topical medications, and manage IVs as required by the provider.
• Monitor and maintain diagnostic equipment and instrumentation, ensuring proper operation and identifying maintenance needs.
• Clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments and procedure rooms between cases to maintain asepsis and availability of equipment.
• Educate patients on medication and treatment, ensuring understanding and compliance with treatment instructions.
• Assist in all aspects of day‑to‑day clinic activity.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation for Level 1 Heart Attack Program (L1HAP): 1‑2 nights per week and every 3rd weekend with a 30‑minute response time for acute heart attack care.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (preferred).
• RN experience with telemetry, ED, and/or ICU is preferred.
• Strong clinical skills, communication, interpersonal communication, organization, precepting, and teamwork.

Education & Experience

Graduate from a specialty training program – required.

Licensure & Certifications

Registered Nurse, Pennsylvania – licensed rostered RN. Basic Life Support certification (Issuing Body default).
