Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a competent Nurse for a 7 PM to 7 AM shift in a full-time role. The nurse will practice independently within a clinical setting, delivering routine and complex care, with attention to long-range planning and contingencies. Responsible for appropriate assignments and delegation to other care providers as needed.

The role emphasizes adherence to ANA standards, nursing processes, patient education, and compassionate, patient-centered care within the OneCHRISTUS framework.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• 1 year experience in related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS required.
• RN License in state of employment or compact.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors side-effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families and caregivers.

Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities:

• Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or care givers; identify issues and resources.
