Summary:

We are offering a $10K Sign-on Bonus for this position! The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

6NT is a 36-bed unit specializing in cardiac care for patients post-open heart surgery, including CABG, heart caths, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and other cardiothoracic procedures. We also care for general medical-surgical patients with primary cardiac diagnoses or comorbidities requiring telemetry monitoring and critical cardiac drips. Our staff is trained to detect medical issues early and respond confidently. Opportunities include assessments, patient/family teaching, IVs, wound care, lab value analysis, and medication management. We foster communication and collaboration in an engaging and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities:

• Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor side-effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS required.
• RN License in state of employment or compact.

Position Requirements:

Education/Skills

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• Precepted by trained staff; initial onboarding validated through competency assessments.
• Participation in residency or orientation programs; skills and competency validated with preceptor.
• Complete all annual competency requirements.

Experience

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current ACLS certification required.

Additional credentials may be required with a grace period as per policy.
