Join UT Southwestern as a critical care nurse to bring advanced expertise to bedside emergencies. This team responds when seconds matter most, improving patient safety and outcomes hospital-wide.
Responsibilities
- Provide immediate expert intervention for patients showing signs of clinical deterioration.
- Act as a trusted resource for frontline staff across the hospital.
- Serve as a vital role in improving patient safety and outcomes hospital-wide.
Job Duties
- Performs and documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments considering age-specific criteria.
- Initiates appropriate nursing interventions and documents them accurately and timely.
- Co‑ordinates interdisciplinary plan of care, communicates with team members and family members.
- Prioritises nursing interventions, identifies changes in condition, reports and follows up.
- Evaluates implemented interventions, modifies care as needed.
- Adheres to hospital policies, national standards, ANA standards, and the Professional Practice Model “Relationship Based Care.”
- Provides education, documentation and feedback to patients and families; ensures understanding.
- Orients patients, families, and caregivers; reviews plan of care and updates boards each shift.
- May perform any core functions outlined in the job: direct patient care, interaction with research participants, or maintaining/modifying patient records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Duties
- Three 12 hour shifts per week, including weekends.
- Work a minimum of one shift every two weeks in a critical care setting.

Requirements
- Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
- Minimum 1 year RN experience.
- Three years ICU experience or strong Emergency Department experience preferred; BSN preferred.
- Current Texas or BNE Compact State license.
- Certification: BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited) and PALS and NIHSS required.
- Licenses and certifications for specialties may be higher as per unit/standard of care.
