Job summary

Naples Comprehensive Health - NCH is seeking a Registered Nurse for the North Naples Intensive Care unit. You will independently plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for high-acuity patients in a 16-bed unit with advanced monitoring and ventilator management.

Qualified candidates have at least 1 year in critical care, active Florida RN or APRN licensure, and BLS/ALS certifications. Per diem shifts with variable schedules are available in a comprehensive healthcare system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in critical care.
• Florida RN or APRN license required (BDLS/ALS where applicable).
• BSN strongly preferred.
• BLS and ALS certifications required from ARC or AHA.
• New grads may enter fellowship program with commitment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate direct critical care nursing for ICU patients.
• Provide teaching and leadership within the unit.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds and quality improvement.
• Coordinate care delivery and ensure patient safety.
• Utilize evidence-based practice in critical care interventions.

This 16-bed Medical and Surgical Critical Care Department at our North Naples campus provides care to a heterogeneous population of high acuity patients with enhanced capacity for Hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator management. Management of patients across the continuum of critical illness.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse – Critical Care independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care, policy and procedure. Provides direct nursing care to patients, assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participates in shared decision making, unit committee and quality improvement activities. Needs minimal supervision.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Contributes to quality nursing practice and shared decision making (SDM) by supporting council decisions, implementation of decisions and active participation in SDM.

• Collaborate with patient, family, the inter-professional team, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
• Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.

• Accountable to foster, participate and be knowledgeable with the shared decision-making model of NCH Healthcare System.
• Completes Adult ICU Systems Assessment and integrates findings with other aspects of EMR, i.e., testing results, clinical documentation, etc. to support patient safety and best outcomes.
• Demonstrates competency with monitoring skills:
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Pulse oximetry.
• Invasive and non-invasive monitoring waveform interpretation.
• Hemodynamic measurement and interpretation.
• Knowledgeable in indications of critical care specific medications/infusions and safely administers, titrates and monitors effectiveness.
• Demonstrates safe use, knowledge and troubleshooting of equipment specific to critical care environment.
• Maintains critical care specific competencies (annually).
• Participates in multi-disciplinary rounds (MDRs).

Education, Experience And Qualifications

Candidates with Critical Care experience that will not be entering fellowship program

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in critical care.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
• BSN strongly preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Candidates WITHOUT Critical Care experience and New Graduates RN that will complete fellowship program

• New graduate nurses will be considered for program.
• BSN preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• ALS certification will be obtained during the program.
• Required to sign a Fellowship agreement which includes a 2-year employment commitment to remain in Critical Care in a full-time position after completion of training.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
