Rutherford Regional Health System is a 143-bed acute care facility offering a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care. We are dedicated to providing patients with comprehensive services in a caring, professional environment through teamwork among our medical staff and employees.

Our partnership with Duke LifePoint Healthcare aims to transform healthcare in Rutherford County by combining Duke’s clinical excellence with LifePoint’s extensive resources and experience in community hospitals.

The role involves providing professional nursing care to assigned patients, collaborating with the medical team, and performing activities according to policies and guides. Responsibilities include supervising ancillary personnel and ensuring quality patient care.

Essential Functions:
  1. Triage training, recognition of critical presentations such as stroke and chest pain, and use of green/red bags.
  2. Medication reconciliation and understanding.
  3. Performing IV starts and blood collection.
  4. Promptly identifying and addressing patient/family needs; regular assessment and documentation of responses.
  5. Initiating discharge planning with an interdisciplinary approach.
  6. Providing patient and family education regarding hospitalization, medications, and discharge instructions.
  7. Using safe medication practices and documenting outcomes, including responses and side effects.
  8. Assisting with orientation and training of others as directed.
Minimum Education:
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
Required Skills:
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment.
Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire
  • Handle with Care within 4 months of hire
Licenses:

Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).

Minimum Work Experience:

1-3 years, with recent acute care experience preferred.
