Job summary

Qualifications

About This Role

The RN in the Preoperative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients. This role is ideal for a skilled nurse who collaborates effectively with healthcare teams to address patient needs.

What You’ll Do

• Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, and discharge planning needs.
• Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout hospitalization.
• Develop an individual nursing plan of care sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient.
• Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments.
• Develop patient teaching plans and document on care plans.
• Appropriately delegate patient care activities based on patient condition and scope of practice of other healthcare providers.
• Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients.
• Accurately document care in the electronic medical record (EMR) according to policy and procedure.
• Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patients' responses to treatment.
• Participate in unit quality assurance activities.
