Job summary

Livingston HealthCare is seeking an energetic Perioperative RN to join our preop/PACU team. We are a dynamic, tight-knit group dedicated to evidence-based, patient-centered perioperative care. This PRN role features 10-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with a differential for PRN hours and a compensation rate of DOE.

You will cover Preop/PACU call, advocate for patients, ensure safe IV access, and contribute to individualized perioperative plans while protecting patient rights and safety.

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN license (or Multistate Compact)
• BLS certification is required
• ACLS within 3 months of hire
• PALS within 3 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Cover Preop/PACU RN call with arrival within 30 minutes
• Advocate for surgical and procedural patients
• Evaluate patients and communicate with surgeon/CRNA
• Initiate and maintain IVs as ordered
• Develop and implement individualized perioperative care plans
• Protect patient rights, dignity, and privacy
• Provide post-anesthesia nursing care per standards
• Collaborate with radiology, lab, med-surg, ICU and others
• Respond effectively in emergencies
• Follow protocols to maintain a safe post-anesthesia environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Cover PreopPACU RN call as noted above with an arrival time of 30 minutes or less from the call in
• Act as patient advocate for surgical and procedural patients
• Evaluates patients and appropriately communicates pertinent information to surgeon or CRNA
• Initiates and maintains IVs as ordered
• Develop and individualized perioperative plan of care for each patient and implementing this plan bya protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous sources; b administering medications safely and correctly; c facilitating optimal surgical outcome for the patient through peri operative care providing constant careful observation and evaluation of patients condition; d performing interventions to maintain normothermia; e protecting the patients rights dignity and privacy; and f providing age specific culturally competent ethical care within legal standards of practice
• Provides nursing care during the post anesthesia phase of surgery that is appropriate to the age and comorbidities of the patient served and in conformance with hospital policy AORN standards and ASPAN standards of care
• Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable eg radiology lab med surg ICU etc
• Demonstrates the ability for immediate and knowledgeable response in emergency situations
• Follows established protocols and maintains a safe environment for post anesthesia phase of surgery

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required Current unrestricted Montana RN license or Multistate Compact RN license
• Basic Life Support BLS certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS certification within 3 months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS certification within 3 months of hire
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in nursing
• 2 years PreopPACU experience
• ASPAN certification
• Computer skills EHR skills Microsoft word Excel Cerner
