Job summary

Indiana University Health System's IU North Pre-Operative Care Unit (POC) seeks registered nurses for a full-time day shift. The unit provides med-surg level care for adults and pediatric patients preparing for same-day surgeries and Phase II recovery, with close collaboration with anesthesia, surgeons, OR circulators, and PACU staff.

Roles emphasize hands-on patient teaching and clear post-operative instructions to support safe transitions of care.

Qualifications

• Requires ASN; BSN preferred.
• Active RN license in Indiana or NLC.
• BLS certification; ACLS/PALS may be required per unit.
• Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Minimum one year RN experience for this role.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on patient teaching and post-operative instructions.
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, OR circulators, and PACU staff.
• Support same-day surgical procedures and discharge planning.
• Self-scheduling with no call and no weekends.
