Job Summary

The registered nurse provides various clinical services depending on their areas of specialization and their work environment. The RN provides care for patients as well as assisting physicians in providing treatment in various medical settings. Responsibilities include monitoring, recording, and reporting symptoms or changes in patient conditions, maintaining accurate patient reports and histories, administering medications, observing reactions or side effects, performing diagnostic tests, supervising less skilled nurses, and preparing patients for examinations. The RN also educates patients and families/caregivers on health conditions, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.

Principle Functions
  • Patient Assessment: Review MD orders, assess patient/family/caregiver, and take appropriate actions for inaccuracies or incompleteness.
  • Plan of Care: Develop care plans aligned with assessments and provider orders, based on treatment goals and diagnoses.
  • Care Provided: Complete treatment with patient, including education for patient and family/caregivers.
  • Medication: Administer medications as ordered, following hospital policies. Expectation: 95% medication scanning and 100% patient scanning where applicable.
  • Quality Assurance: Assess care quality, patient progress, and modify care plans as needed. Report abnormalities or concerns to the provider.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all care and related data according to department policies.
Qualifications
  • ASN Diploma required; BSN preferred.
  • At least one year of RN experience in a specialty area preferred.
  • Active Washington State RN license required; certification in a specific department preferred. BLS certification required.
Additional Information
  • Benefit-eligible employees working 0.5 FTE or more.
  • Wage Range: $37.45 - $70.01
