Job summary

Inspira Health Network is seeking an infusion RN to provide infusion therapy and central line care in the infusion suite. The role requires expertise with PICC/Hickman/ports, peripheral IVs, and multi-modal chemotherapy regimens, with focus on symptom management and patient education.

The candidate should have BSN/MSN progress, NJ RN licensure, and BLS; oncology infusion experience is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position within Inspira Health Network in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Assess physical and emotional needs and develop a plan of care using the nursing process.
• Administer intravenous therapies and manage vascular access including PICC lines, Hickman lines, and implantable ports.
• Provide central line care and peripheral IV insertion.
• Specialize in multimodal chemotherapy, biotherapy, IV antibiotics, transfusions, and injections.
• Monitor and manage treatment side effects and provide home care instructions.
• Perform wound care including dressings and wound vacs.

MAJOR FUNCTION:An RN in the infusion suite must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and condition of the patient. The nurse must have knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the emotional needs of the patient and family from early adulthood to the end of the life span. The RN must use this knowledge to assess the physical and emotional needs of the patient/family and develop a plan of care which incorporates these principles. The RN must have the ability to implement the plan, to supervise others with the implementation and assess its effectiveness utilizing the nursing process, evidence-based guidelines and be knowledgeable of the policy and procedures of the department.The infusion RN will work with intravenous therapies and vascular access. The infusion RN is expected to be an expert in the care of central lines, including but not limited to, PICC lines, Hickmans, and Implantable ports. The infusion nurse must also be proficient in peripheral blood draws and peripheral IV insertion. The infusion RN will specialize in giving intravenous therapies and have extensive knowledge and background that includes but not limited to, multi-modal chemotherapy regimens, biotherapy treatment, IV antibiotic administration, blood product transfusions and injections. The infusion RN will also have extensive knowledge and experience in symptom management, managing side effects to treatment and knowledge of home care instructions related to the various treatment modalities given.
