Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
• Licensed by the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
• Three years experience as licensed registered nurse in an acute care setting or physician office.
• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft applications with the ability to type 40 wpm.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Two years experience in hospital utilization review is preferred.
• Minimum of one-year experience as charge nurse or leadership role is preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in patient placement software.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes inpatient admission criteria to assign diagnoses that meet acute care criteria.
• Communicates with physicians regarding admission status and site of service.
• Oversees daily bed control and coordinates admission/transfer of patients.
• Assigns beds and manages bed status; communicates with staff and management as needed.
• Maintains records and documentation related to patient placement and bed management.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information.
• Facilitates daily bed control meetings and problem-solving related to bed availability.
