Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks a Level II Competent Registered Nurse to provide patient-centered care in our hospital setting. The RN will deliver the nursing process, coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team, and assist in discharge planning and teaching.

The role requires a minimum of two years of RN experience and Virginia RN licensure; BSN is preferred and ADN holders must obtain BSN within five years.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
• BSN preferred; ADN holders must obtain BSN within five years of hire.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• ONS/ONCC certification within 1 year.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care with interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve patient outcomes.
• Coordinate patient, family and health team involvement, including teaching and discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care with other health team members.
• Assist Leadership to define standards of excellence for patient care and participate in quality improvement.
• Participate in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members.
• Act as point of contact on hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in daily operational activities for a safe patient/staff environment.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in unit, departmental and hospital committees for policy development.
